Taos Eco Park is proud to again be hosting some of the best teams in the region for two weekends of exciting college, club and pro soccer action. Beginning this April Taos Eco Park will be embarking on a big year for bringing College and Pro soccer to our area to play and train. April 4th brings the Albuquerque Sol to town. The Sol are a Premier Development League team formed in Albuquerque. PDL is considered the top level men’s amateur soccer competition in the United States. Although they can’t have active NCAA players on their rosters, NCAA graduates, NAIA, NJCAA, club, and retired pro players play hard together at this level. They tend to make good competition for quality NCAA sides. The Sol will be competing against the Division II RMAC squad, Colorado State University Pueblo Thunderwolves. The Sol v Thunderwolves kicks off at 5:30pm. Prior there will be a match featuring CSU Pueblo Thunderwolves v Rio Rapids Andromeda at 3:30. Admission to both games is just $5 and supports development at Taos Eco Park.
The following weekend Friday night April 10 features University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions who went 11-8-2 last season in RMAC taking on the Classic F.C. Toros, the 2014 U-17 State Champions. On Saturday April 11 we’ve got an action packed day of soccer starting at 10:30am featuring Trinidad State Junior College men’s and women’s teams, Eastern New Mexico’s women and ABQ club team, the Rio Rapids ’97s. The headliner for Saturday is the UNM Lobos v Denver University Pioneers, for our D1 showdown. Sunday sees another full day at Taos Eco Park with games starting at 10:30am and ending at 8:30pm. We’ll see more from Eastern New Mexico women, and the men’s team will take on Adams State, Otero Junior College women will face Highlands University women and the Eastern NM women. General admission $5 for any game. Under 10 are free. Entry good for the remainder of that day’s matches with bracelet.
